The Joys of Being Unapologetically Latino

In this episode of 'Joyfully Queer,' host Bethany welcomes her friend Adam Gonzalez, a queer artist and DJ from Kansas City known by the stage name Sir Queen. Adam shares his journey from growing up in a small, conservative Texas town to embracing his identity unapologetically. They discuss the powerful role music played in Adam's life, offering him escape and solace. Now, as a DJ, he uses music to spread joy and celebrate queer excellence within his community. Adam highlights the importance of creating spaces where queer individuals can connect with their roots and experience radical acceptance and joy.

The Joys of Parenting a Trans Child

In today's episode, Bethany interviews Jennifer Harris Dault about the joys of having a transgender child. This original interview took place in 2023, when Joyfully Queer first began. Since this was recorded, federal attacks on trans people – particularly kids – have been nonstop. This past April, child abuse prevention month, the president of the United States issued a declaration by Executive Order. In this order, he insisted that the worst form of abuse was supporting trans kids with gender-affirming care. He pledged to end care for trans kids and vowed to punish “abusers” to the fullest extent of the law. Because of this, Jennifer's family is moving to the EU.
